DOG-HAPPY Teammates Approach

Guided by two main foundational lenses: Perceptual Control Theory (PCT), through which we explore behaviour, and Family Dog Mediation (FDM), through which we support our clients and apply ethological and welfare considerations.

PCT is essential to understanding the goal(s) behind any living system’s behaviour — that includes us, dogs and humans. It considers the disturbances (or obstacles) to that individual’s goal, conflicts within the system or between two (or more) different systems. It looks at how an animal naturally runs its own programs to enjoy life or to problem-solve, further providing insights on likes, dislikes, its principles and sense of self. PCT is layered and complex, yet simple and elegant. Behaviour takes on a whole new life — and starts to make perfect sense — once we begin to live it.

FDM is a professional commitment to building bridges between clients and their dogs. Rather than working on a dog or for a human, we step into relationship with both — seeing each individual and working collaboratively toward mutually beneficial outcomes.
